Like dusting off an old tome found in an ancient burial chamber in the Nordic regions, Árstíðir Lífsins plays the epics of their forfathers exactly as they should be told in the modern age. This second half of the series, Saga á tveim tungum II: Eigi fjǫll né firðir, takes off exactly where the first (Vápn ok viðr) left off, starting with masterful ambience and the narration this band is famous for. This band prides themselves on their usage of classic and traditional instruments from Vibraphone, piano, viola, cello and the organ, creating a dense atmosphere for the sonic purist. All three members use their wide ranges on this record to create a massive choir spanning multiple octaves that rest on top of the music, whether it is in full black metal swing or droning melodicism. No words can accurately describe this listening experience, which is best enjoyed with both parts.
