Spiritual Eschatologist band Cult of Fire are no stranger to religious and ritual iconography steeped in a dark atmosphere enshrouded in death worship. Having been seven whole years since the last release, 2013’s मृत्यु का तापसी अनुध्यान (Ascetic Meditation of Death) and three years since any new music at all, the trio methodically trumpet not just one, but two new releases – Moksha and its twin, Nirvana. The first of the two albums, Moksha opens the band to an entirely new atmosphere, going beyond space or time opening you to the spiritual world of the Aghori monks, leading to the mirror image, Nirvana and it’s serene Buddhist meditative droning. Like two pieces to a puzzle, Moksha and Nirvana are not complete without each other, and while entirely different, fit together perfectly to form and intrinsic web of ceremonies of far east spiritual repetition. Both of the albums are two different paths to breaking Samsara (the cycle of rebirth) via two different astral paths of enlightenment and both are equally as vibrant and enthralling from start to finish.
