Whilst he is mostly known for his contributions as the main guitarist in the active Gothic/Doom project, Katatonia, Anders Nystrom, under the guise of the very elusive Blakkheim created a project that would later be known as Diabolical Masquerade. After recording a promo in the early months of 1993, Blakkheim set out to record the first full length – Ravendusk in My Heart. The ensuing music would encompass every single one of his influences and peers, spanning sections that sound black metal, death metal, symphonic sections and even the occasional heavy metal section. Backed with booming and almost vampyric overtones complete with vocal narration, the album is commands all attention to be on it at all times. From the first chord stricken to the final keystroke, Ravendusk in My Heart is one of the strongest debut records in the early days of the Swedish black metal scene.
