The Netherlands is a hotspot of bands that challenge the thinking of black metal, none moreso than Fluisteraars. Incorporating influences everywhere from death rock, new wave and even some punk, the duo take black metal and turn it on it’s head entirely. Building riffs from standard black metal progressions and then adding major synths and a very present bass, this record is short, sweet and straightforward, leaving nothing to the mind and presenting everything it is directly in front of the listener. Each of the songs has multiple movements that make drift to and fro, often making you forget when one song ends and the next begins.
