One of the bands that often gets passed up in lieu of the projects that the members are more known for is Sweden’s Ophthalamia. Consisting of Abruptum’s It and Jon Nodveidt, known for his work in Dissection. The ensuing hour of music plays both melodic and dissonant at the same time, shooting between various rhythms and cascading guitar sections. Whilst the band had four records in it’s short time, and each featured a different vocalist, the first record, A Journey into Darkness is often called a hidden gem buried deep in the Swedish scene and for good reason.
