Soft Kill – “Choke” (DIGIPACK CD)

Like a portal out of the 80’s, Soft Kill emerged from the densely packed Portland music scene back in 2011. Choke, the band’s fourth album, is saturated in reverb and backed by a droning synth arpeggiation builds a sonic landscape reminiscent of their contemporaries whilst maintaining their own originality. The soft, breathy vocals partnered with an airy guitar tone cutting across a loud, resonating bass and simplistic drums does more with minimalism than many can do with a symphony, constructing this artsy masterpiece.
