Pushing the boundaries of black metal towards the esoteric, The Ruins of Beverast made major waves in the underground with 2017’s Exuvia, but their entire catalogue is filled with a massive sonic bombardment. Their fourth album, Blood Vaults, released four years prior to their most recent album showcases the band’s intense nature. Comprised of sole musian, Alexander von Meilenwald, this record spans over an hour and tells the story of inquisitor Heinrich Kramer, who wrote the Malleus Maleficarum, the book that details witchcraft and how to exterminate witches. Taking the massive soundscape he is well known for, Alexander builds a very loud driving monstrosity of a record rife with insane samples and atmosphere to create the very nature he is conveying on this record.
