Colorado is known for many things – it’s stark mountains, harsh wilderness, the birthplace of the wild west and a very close nit group of musicians spanning various genres. Wayfarer, a long time staple has taken to blending themes of the aforementioned wild west with their own unique take at black metal since 2011. After three massive records, including the widely renown World’s Blood, the quartet come back barely 2 years later with the massive record, “A Romance With Violence”. Delving farther into their western side, A Romance With Violence takes notes from blasts to very melancholic and western gothic. Straddling the line from sections that sound as if David Eugene Edwards (Wovenhand, 16 Horsepower) took the helm and furious, blasting epics, Wayfarer prove once again how varied black metal can be.
