While most of the Norwegian black metal scene was busy with themes of satanism and rebelling against the christian mainstream, Windir took a very different route. Formed by solo artist Valfar, this band wrote four albums before his untimely passing in 2004. Following the success of the first album, Arntor was released not much later and showcases the growth of the band. Featuring more supporting artists and a more refined sound, the album takes to the snowtopped peaks, bringing more clean singing, more traditional sound and even more bombastic black metal elements than the previous effort.
