Black metal often divulges into many different lyrical paths ranging from the forest to counter-christian satanic beliefs, but one of the least explored is the self destructive path of suicide. Xasthur was founded in the early months of 1995 and remained a staple in black metal until it’s demise in 2010. This fourth record fully showcases the dark mind of Malefic. Caterwalling wails are pushed far into the mix with a full reverb while droning guitars scream like nails on a chalkboard.
