Dominant Ukranian black metal writer Roman Saenko has been the driving force behind the black metal scene since early 1995 starting with one of the most iconic Slavic black metal bands, Hate Forest. Though relatively keeping the same sound for the entirety of their career, one of the most heralded albums is their sophomoric release, 2003’s Purity. Following directly where their debut took them from and incorporating a more intense mix, the bludgeoning drums decimate as the aggressive guitars tremolo over the top, surrounded by the massive growls over the top. Remastered for all to hear in it’s best form, Purity plays like the harshest hailstorms in the coldest regions of the globe, unforgiving and bleak.
